Russia revving up for offensive in Donbas, intelligence source says
Donbas rebels and their Russian patrons are preparing a massive provocation to give them a pretext to launch an offensive in Donbas, says the head of an intelligence group in the rebel-held territory operating under SBU control.
“The Russians plan to strike in January,” the source says.
“Drug-addicts are being removed from the front-line troops and replaced by troops trained in Rostov, Russia,” the source says.
The enemy scenario is to stage a provocation, accuse Ukraine of the disruption of the Minsk agreements and launch an offensive, he says.
Ukraine army intelligence reports large concentrations of tanks and heavy artillery near Pervomajsk, Alchevsk and Donetsk.

Le rapport de l'OSCE ici.
Sera pas d'une grande utilité . . . mais:
Ukraine Appeals to UN to Demand Russia Stop Aggression
Ukraine calls on the UN Member States to demand RF immediately cease all acts of aggression, withdraw Russian forces from Ukraine, stop border violations and supplies of military equipment and weapons to militants, cancel all the acts aimed at legalization of the annexation of the Crimea, and finally, de-occupy the peninsula.
This was said in a statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, today, December 14, on the occasion of the Fortieth anniversary of the adoption of UN General Assembly Resolution “Definition of Aggression” (3314 (XXIX)).
The statement said: “Actions of the Russian Federation against Ukraine – one of UN founding members – in particular, occupation and annexation of the Ukrainian Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as continuous direct and indirect military intervention in the East of Ukraine qualify as an act of aggression as laid out in the UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 (XXIX)”.
As the Ukrainian MFA stated, Russian aggression constitutes a crime against international peace and gives rise to international responsibility.
Finally, Ukrainian MFA wrote: “We urge the UN Member States to take further consolidated steps to stop the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and to return Russia without further delay to the realm of international law”.
As previously reported, in October Ukraine has been elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Une mise au point de l'Italie:
MFA of Italy: Extension of Sanctions against Russia Depends on Implementation of Minsk II
Italy links the extension of the EU sanctions against Russia with the implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
This was stated by Foreign Minister of Italy Paolo Gentiloni before the Foreign Affairs Council meeting, taking place in Brussels, reports ‘Ukrinform’.
“This question is on the agenda of the European Council for December 17-18. Frankly, I do not see big discussion,” Italian Foreign Minister said.
He noted that this decision should be made based on the results of assessment of implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
“I believe that the European Council will do it,” Gentiloni said.
As reported, the meeting of the European Council will be held in Brussels on December 17-18. Among other issues, the EU Heads of State and Government are to adopt a consolidated political position on the extension of economic sanctions against Russia, the effect of which formally expires on January 31, 2016.
As previously reported, Merkel expressed support for sanctions against Russia.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel supports preservation of sanctions against Russia.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel supports preservation of sanctions against Russia.
This was stated today, December 14, by Head of Christian Democratic Union, reports ‘DW’.
According to her, it was the right decision to enforce peace in Europe and to impose sanctions which can be cancelled only after the full implementation of Minsk Agreements. Merkel stressed that it was a joint decision of the European Union.
As reported by Reuters, Merkel stated: “I think this (implementation of sanctions – Ed.) was the correct response, no matter how much we want to preserve good relations with Russia. Our principles are to be followed”.
The right to self-determination, she said, should not exist only on paper.
The current sanctions are due to expire at the end of January, 2016. Germany and many other EU member states support the continuation of sanctions until there will be a noticeable progress in the situation in Ukrainian Donbass and until Russia fully fulfills its obligations under Minsk agreements.

President supports proposal on revocation of Ukrainian citizenship for separatism
President Petro Poroshenko endorsed the petition on deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship for separatism. However, as stated by the President, this issue requires legislative amendments.
“As President, I believe that the country should have this instrument at its disposal in war conditions. I would like people’s deputies to support this petition,” Petro Poroshenko said answering the questions of journalists in the course of his visit to State Enterprise “Polygraph Combine “Ukraine”.
The President informed that he had forwarded the petition to the Parliament.
Answering respective e-petition submitted by I.M. Lazavenko, the President noted:
“Thank you for active civil stand. I share your opinion regarding the inevitability of strict punishment for persons who commit crimes against foundations of national state security.
Provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine and regulations in the area of citizenship are based on the principles and regulations of generally recognized international documents such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Nationality and the Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.
Analysis of the current legislation on citizenship and the Criminal Code of Ukraine indicates a lack of legal grounds for the revocation of citizenship for committing an infringement on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.
At the same time, I addressed the Cabinet of Ministers with a proposal to elaborate the given issue taking into account the world experience”.

Defence ministers of Baltic countries and Poland condemn Russia aggression against Ukraine
Estonian defence minister: Russia's aggression in Ukraine is against the 21st century values
European Union foreign ministers have indicated the need to extend sanctions against Russia.
That's according to EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini who said that the implementation of the Minsk ceasefire agreement in Ukraine is still far from completion.
Having earlier sanctioned individuals involved in the conflict with visa bans and asset freezes, the EU, along with the United States, imposed economic sanctions on Russia in late July 2014, targeting its energy, banking and defence sectors.
Those sanctions expire at the end of January 2016, a month after the deadline for meeting the terms of the peace deal agreed in Minsk.
Combined Russian separatists forces have killed more than 9,000 people since invading Ukraine in early 2014.

Colonel Motuzyanyk: Over the last day of hostilities, no military was killed or wounded
Kyiv, December 15, 2015. Over the last day of hostilities in the east of Ukraine, no military was killed or wounded, said Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, Presidential Administration spokesperson on ATO related issues at a briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. However, the situation in the ATO zone remains restless. For the first time over a few days, militants violated ceasefire in Luhansk sector. There were two provocations near Tryokhizbenka. Militants used small arms, grenades and heavy machine guns. Though, militants reduced the number of attacks almost twice in Donetsk sector. “It was restless near Donetsk airport, especially in Pisky and Avdiivka. Militants also carried out three unaimed attacks on our positions near Novhorodske. They used small arms, heavy machine guns and anti-tank grenades at Svitlodarsk arc, around Luhanske and Zaitseve,” he explained. In Mariupol sector, they have not recorded any ceasefire violations.
Given the increase in passenger traffic across the contact line, a new checkpoint “Maryinka” has been opened today. “Up to 6 thousand people and 1,500 vehicles can pass through the checkpoint daily. This will significantly reduce the burden on Zaitseve and Novotroitske checkpoints and ensure more efficient work of law enforcement bodies that have been strengthened on the eve of Christmas to avoid sabotage,” said Col. Motuzyanyk.
He also said that yesterday police detained another militant, and a woman employer of the justice department with fake passports for residents of temporarily occupied territories. She was engaged in making illegal passports for residents of temporarily occupied Makiyivka. Also, the Security Service of Ukraine withdrew illegal alcohol beverages worth over 260 000 UAH at Kostyantynivka railway station in Donetsk region. The locomotive with the goods was moving to the temporarily occupied territory.

Italy PM Renzi says Russian sanctions to be reviewed in coming months
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi speaks during the ''Rome 2015 MED, Mediterranean dialogues'' forum in Rome, Italy, December 10, 2015.
Reuters/Remo Casilli
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said on Wednesday that Europe and other Western countries are likely to review their economic sanctions against Russia in coming months.
"It's clear that we have the same position as the entire international Western community... but I think that this package of sanctions will be reviewed, not in the next few hours but in coming months," Renzi said in an interview with Italian radio.
Italy prevented an automatic rollover of the European Union sanctions imposed after Russia's annexation of Crimea and its support of Russian-speaking rebels in Eastern Ukraine.
European leaders are likely to discuss the matter at a meeting in Brussels on Thursday, and EU and Italian officials have said they do not expect problems in renewing the sanctions that expire at the end of the year for another six months.

Re: L'invasion Russe en Ukraine
Reporting from occupied Donetsk: locals curse anyone carrying weapons, but are not ready to rebel
An armed supporter of the self-proclaimed "People's Republic of Donetsk" stands guard as a Russian convoy carrying humanitarian aid for residents of the Eastern Ukrainian Donetsk region approaches the city of Makiyivka near Donetsk, AFP PHOTO / VASILY MAXIMOV
Sounds of gunfire and exploding shells never cease on the outskirts of occupied Donetsk as locals continue cursing anyone carrying weapons, symbols of war and destruction.
Their anger is directed against both Russian-backed militants and Ukrainian soldiers. The civilian population is tired. People are exhausted by two years of war, poverty and empty hopes for a ceasefire. Few believe that the Minsk Agreement will help resolve the conflict, and in fact until recently they thought this dirty useless war was finally coming to an end. A month ago, the phrase “another truce” was greeted with laughter, but today no one pays attention to it. It is hard to say what the peaceful citizens of Donetsk are more tired of – war or empty promises.
It is nice to see such a peaceful mood among locals. But, the fact that locals have not as yet defined their position in relation to the two sides involved in the war may render the situation insoluble. Peaceful civilians now remain in occupied Donetsk, Makiyivka, Yenakiyevo, Khartsyzk and other cities. By refusing to make a stand… a choice, these people have become hostages of the ongoing conflict.
Do they understand this or not? Probably not, as they continue to hope that peace will come to the city and that everything will be decided without their participation. Unfortunately, this is not the fault of one generation, it is not the fault of Donbas and Donetsk alone… it is a long-term virus that has taken root in the subconscious of many Donbas residents. Problems were always resolved by the highest authorities… that’s the way it was under the Soviet Union and for many years after its disintegration.
Despite the fact that people have been given a choice, no one believes that his voice will make a difference. However, as things stand, sooner or later everyone will have to make a choice and decide who they want to live with – the “junta” or the “protectors”.
Most people in Donetsk curse anyone carrying a weapon, but they are not ready to rise up against anyone. Some will come up to armed “protectors” and tell them face to face that they are not defending anyone or anything and are just prolonging the war. But, there is no guarantee that tomorrow those same “protectors” will not seek them out and throw them in the cellar.
As a rule, people avoid talking about the war in public, but listening to some conversations between friends, you realize that it is not so bad. Yes, people do not like the Ukrainian army, but believe me, they frankly hate the “DNR”. Normal citizens do not think that it is normal to see heavily armed terrorists walking around the city, and what’s more completely drunk…
Locals maintain that there were fewer armed “DNR guys” in the city at the beginning of October. However, once the brief truce evaporated, they have started strolling around in pairs or threes.
So that our readers can get the whole picture, we should tell you that not all the so-called “militants” ride around in armoured vehicles, or classy military and passenger cars. Locals who joined the “DNR” use public transport. However, there are not many of them and some “locals” ask how to get to Lenin Square, the centre of the city, which all residents should know. Questions like “How do I get to Vatutina Street or Shakhtostroyiteliv Street” are heard quite often… Locals say that “protectors” can be found on the streets and cafes, but with each passing month there seem to be fewer and fewer. Either they are enjoying a well-earned holiday after “a hard day’s work” or they have left for Syria, where the real money is. You may also meet a “volunteer DNR guy” at the supermarket, regularly supplied by humanitarian convoys from Russia.
The lucky people who still work or have been able to find a job that is not related to military affairs receive a very small salary at the rate of 1 to 2, despite the fact that $1 US equals 2.6 rubles.
Salaries in the “DNR” can be measured by the ads on the site of the so-called “DNR Employment Centre”.
An anesthesiologist gets a salary of 4842 rubles (2421 UAH at “DNR” exchange rate, and only 1670 UAH at the Ukrainian exchange rate). Yes, there are salaries amounting to 7000 and 8000, and even 10,000 rubles, but this is rare, and if you compare prices to salaries, it comes out to pennies.
Products in the occupied cities cost more than those in the liberated areas. 2.5% milk in not too distant Kostyantynivka (liberated area) costs about 11.5 UAH, while in occupied Donetsk from 37 rubles (18 UAH).
There is no gas in Donetsk…that is, there is enough, but it cannot be found. Almost all the gasoline stations are empty because there is nothing to fill the cars with. Few people use gasoline, and there has not been any gas for weeks. Therefore, as soon as gas appears, all the drivers queue in kilometer-long lines.
It is the same with heating. There is not enough gas pressure for boilers to function normally, so homes are heated in spurts – here today, gone tomorrow. The “DNR” authorities have promised to resolve this problem by December 10, but Donetsk locals take such promises with a grain of salt. “DNR” authorities already promised to repair and return property, but no one has received anything yet. In some remote areas, some windows have been replaced, but there has been no major construction or renovation of infrastructure. Almost everyone who submits documents with attached photos of their destroyed home (required by the district councils) are told: “You’re on the waiting list, but we can’t tell you when the work will begin.”
No one has bothered to restore the outskirts of the city, which suffered heavily during the fighting.
One day, the “head” of the city’s occupant administration, Oleksandr Martynov, arrived on the outskirts of the Kuibyshev district with a bunch of nails and a GAZelle utility vehicle filled with slates and demonstrated how construction work would be implemented in the area. Unfortunately, this large territory was heavily shelled and a box of nails and a truckload of slate will not suffice to reconstruct…
Donetsk residents are tired of empty hopes promises and hopes, ready to curse the armed “militants”, but not yet ready to rise up against them.
Surprenant?

Surprenant?

Re: L'invasion Russe en Ukraine
Le rapport de l'OSCE ici.
Two outrageous Russian charges signal new dangers for Ukraine
Two new and completely outrageous Russian charges – that the Crimean Tatars are under the control of Turkish intelligence and that the Ukrainian library in Moscow was involved in the preparation of terrorist actions in the Russian capital – point to a new round of increased dangers for Ukraine.
Image: QHA
Since the shooting down of the Russian plane that violated Turkish airspace, the Russian occupation authorities in Crimea have frequently suggested that “the Crimean Tatars are under the influence of Turkish intelligence services,” a charge, Mustafa Dzhemilyev, the leader of that nation, says increases the threat against it.
Speaking in Kyiv yesterday, Dzhemilyev said that “given that the Crimean Tatars are close and related to the Turkish people, then the wild anti-Turkish bacchanalia led by Putin concerns them as well.” And tragically, it is already having an impact in Crimea not only at the level of declarations but also of official actions.
“In Crimea,” he continued, dozens of families of Turks, including those in mixed marriages with Crimean Tatars, are being subjected to deportation, and all businessmen who have ties with Turkish firms are at the edge of bankruptcy.” And the head of the occupation says that Crimean Tatars are cooperating with the intelligence service of a country “hostile to Russia.”
“All this propaganda hysteria,” Dzhemilyev said, “very much recalls those methods with which the Soviet authorities at one time attempted to justify the deportation and genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.”
The Moscow Library of Ukrainian Literature (Image: versia.ru)
A second outrageous Russian claim concerns the Moscow Library of Ukrainian Literature. Up to now, the Moscow media have suggested that the raids against it and the charges against its director, Natalya Sharina, were about the supposed presence of anti-Russian materials.
But today, in a dangerous shift, the “Nasha Versia” portal says that the real reason that Moscow police raided the center is that they suspected that it was the base for the organization of terrorist attacks in the Russian capital or elsewhere in the Russian Federation.
Specifically, it said that “as has become known to the correspondent of ‘Nasha Versia,’ the investigation is above all interested in the details about the possible preparation by ‘guests of the Ukrainian library’ of terrorist acts in Moscow. Information, testifying to the preparation of terrorist acts has already been obtained by law enforcement personnel.”
In today’s overheated environment, such charges both against the Crimean Tatars and against the Ukrainians more generally suggest that at least some in the Russian capital are laying the ground work for a new demonization of Ukraine in preparation for possible offensive moves against its people and state in the near future.
Militants Ignore Minsk Agreements and Form Reserve Army, – Intelligence Service
Militants have conducted the mobilization measures for manning their units and forming a mobilizing reserve.
This was reported today, December 16, by the Main directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The report states: “The command of Russian occupation troops on the temporarily occupied territories has conducted the mobilization measures for manning the units of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps and has formed a mobilizing reserve that are proved the intention of non-observance of Minsk agreements by it. Within the framework of above mentioned measures, on December 24, it is planned to conduct a meeting of the representatives of “the authorities and military commissariats” concerning the issues of mobilizing preparation”.
It was also reported that the representatives of the OSCE Special Monitor Mission were informed concerning the presence of forbidden by Minsk agreements weapons – artillery systems over caliber 100 mm (SAU) in the area of Bezimenne.
As previously reported, militants are making plans to carry out the recruitment for military service in the occupied territories of Donbas in spring of 2016.
Seven Russian Helicopters Noticed near Administrative Border with Crimea
Border guards observed three drones in the ATO area and seven Russian helicopters over the territory of Russia-occupied Crimea near the Ukrainian border.
This was reported today, December 16, by the press service of the State border guard service of Ukraine.
In Donetsk region border guards recorded three flights of unmanned aerial vehicles, used by militants to conduct aerial reconnaissance.
Also, border guards observed seven Russian helicopters Mi-8 over the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea.
As it is noted in their report, Ukrainian military units have already been informed.
As previously reported, Russian drones were seen in Luhansk region and near administrative border with the Crimea on December 8.

Russian president has admitted to Russia's military prescence in east Ukraine.
Speaking at his annual media questional and answer session, Putin said "We never said there were no people there who were carrying out certain tasks including in the military sphere."
Several thousand Russian troops remain based in east Ukraine.
Kyiv, Western capitals and NATO officials say there can be no permanent peace until Russia withdraws its forces and returns to Ukraine full control over its border. Despite incontrovertible proof the Kremlin has always denied that it had sent its army to invade east Ukraine.
The conflict there erupted after Russia annexed Crimea, sent special forces to seize government buildings in the east and established a hybrid army of so-called 'voluteers" and regular armed forces to seize and hold onto eastern territories of the country.

Russia Must Withdraw its Troops from Ukrainian Donbas, – Stoltenberg
The cases of ceasefire regime violations still happen in ATO area despite the declared "truce".
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated this fact at a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Ukrinform reported.
According to him, previously the progress in situation in Donbas took place, but recently “there are cases of ceasefire regime violations”.
“Many sources confirm the military presence of Russia in the east of Ukraine. This demonstrates the special responsibility of Russian Federation one more time in the terms of Minsk agreements. They have to withdraw the troops and heavy weapons, and the ceasefire must continue”, – said the NATO Secretary General.
In addition, at a press conference, Petro Poroshenko mentioned today’s speech of Russian President Putin.
“Russian President publicly confirmed the presence of Russian troops in the occupied Eastern Ukraine for the first time”, – he said.
Poroshenko also noted that Ukraine would continue to strengthen its defense capability.
“In the near future we plan to sign several documents aimed at strengthening the defense capability of Ukraine”, – he said.
As known, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko came to NATO HQ on December 17, where he met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Russia Must Fully Сomply with its Commitments to Ukraine, – US State Department
The United States still do not recognize the annexation of Crimea and consider it as a part of Ukraine.
The spokesman of the US Department of State John Kirby said this during the daily briefing, 5 Channel reported.
Answering the journalists’ questions, he said that the US expect full implementation of Russian commitments, including the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Until conditions are not met, the sanctions will not be lifted. Kirby said that the US Secretary of State John Kerry announced the same during his visit to Russia.
“We still do not recognize the annexation of Crimea. This issue is important that the US Secretary of State John Kerry announced the same during his visit to Russia – the sanctions will not be lifted, until conditions are not met. Russia is responsible for compliance with its commitments. John Kerry clearly explained it to President Putin”, – said Kirby.
It should be recalled that the US and the EU confirmed that the condition of sanctions’ lifting is full implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia.

- pour bravoure et sacrifice dans l’exercice de leurs fonctions dans des conditions de combat et dans la conduite des opérations spéciales dans des conditions associées à un risque pour la vie ;
- pour des actions de compétence, d’initiative et décisives, qui ont contribué à la bonne exécution des missions de combat ;

Bizzare:
Large Number of Missing Persons are Kept in Russia, – Tandit
A large number of Ukrainian servicemen, who were considered missing in Donbas, are kept in Russia.
This was stated today, December 21, by advisor to the Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Yuriy Tandit.
According to him, the total number of missing people is 762.
He stated that it is highly probable that quite a large number of these people have been illegally transferred to Russia. Among them there are both Ukrainian servicemen and civils.
As previously reported, National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine demands release of Ukrainian military without any bargains.
Report Titled “Russian War Crimes in Eastern Ukraine” Published in Poland
Polish Deputy published a report "Russian war crimes in eastern Ukraine in 2014", which consists of 153 pages and describes the crimes committed by the Russian soldiers and Pro-Russian militants in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The report was prepared by the Deputy of the lower chamber of the Polish Parliament Małgorzata Gosiewska with the support of volunteers. All the materials will be handed over to the Hague Tribunal.
This report describes war crimes in the meaning of international law committed in eastern and southern Ukraine by soldiers and officials of the Russian Federation and by the pro-Russian separatist fighters. The crimes documented herein include unlawful deprivation of freedom, physical and mental tortures, robbery and murders.
Chapters 1 through 3 are of an introductory nature. They describe the methodology used by the authors of the report and present the circumstances in which the subsequently detailed crimes were committed.
The locations and types of the crimes that were committed as well as their perpetrators are described in chapter 4. The authors discuss only those crimes they were told about by the victims thereof during the field research. More than 60 interviews were gathered in the course of collecting the materials for this report. Each action described in chapter 4 is confirmed by a quote from the testimony of one or more victims.
Chapter 4 is divided into subchapters that correspond to each of the venues where war crimes have been committed, as identified by the authors of the report. Most of those venues are in eastern Ukraine, one in Crimea and one in the territory of the Russian Federation, where the Russian army brought Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Chapter 5 is a catalogue of perpetrators of the crimes who were mentioned in the testimonies of the victims, including a short overview and references to the description of the venues where the crimes were being committed, and pictures.
The victims are not mentioned by name but by an assigned “C” (case) code names and numbers. Any personal data that could be used to identify the victims indirectly such as, for example, pictures, have been included only if a specific victim agreed to the disclosure of his or her identity and spoke freely in the media.
Based on the documentary evidence described in the report a communication will be submitted to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Mois amusant:
Ukraine intel reports about 7,700 Russian regular troops in Donbas
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry's GUR Main Intelligence Department reports that there are about 7,700 Russian regular troops in the occupied areas in Donbas, eastern Ukraine.
REUTERS
"According to the data the GUR has obtained, there are about 7,700 regular soldiers of the Armed Forces of Russia in Donetsk and Luhansk regions," GUR Chief Vadym Skybytsky said on TV Channel 112 Ukraine.
In his words, there has b
een no drastic change in the strength of Russian military personnel recently – their number remains steady, and redeployment and buildup, especially in the attacking echelon, are most active in the first and second army corps of Russia's armed forces.
The Ukrainian intelligence service also reports about the constant regrouping of the Russian forces, preparations, combat drills, and training on the shooting ground. Thus, Skybytsky said, the enemy continues its routine battle training and exercises possibly for a new offensive against Ukraine.
"There is no direct threat as of today. But there is proof that the Armed Forces of Russia, the fighting units of the first and second army corps have been training, and this is their routine job now. The situation [in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone] remains tense. The enemy continues shelling the positions of the Ukrainian forces. In the past 24 hours, Ukrainian troops were attacked 57 times. What is more, Russia has been sending more and more weapons and fuel there," he said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged during his recent press conference in Moscow on December 17 that Russia had sent personnel to Donbas to "solve certain issues, including in the military sphere."
Militants Use Prohibited Weapons in Occupied Donbass, – JCCC
Head of Ukrainian side of JCCC asked representatives of the OSCE SMM and Head of Russian side of JCCC to assume measures to enforce ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons.
This was stated during a press conference in Kyiv by the head of Ukrainian part of the Joint Center for control and coordination for the ceasefire and stabilization of the boundary sides Major General Andriy Taran.
According to him, in the view of regular cases of the use of prohibited weapons near Staromykhailivka, Head of Ukrainian side of JCCC once again asked representatives of the OSCE SMM and Head of Russian side of JCCC to assume measures to enforce ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons.
Taran emphasized facts of concentration of tanks, mobile artillery units and armored vehicles near the city of Donetsk, recorded over the past 2 days.
As previously reported, Ukrainian side of JCCC is deeply concerned about escalation of the situation at the demarcation line.
Situation in ATO Area as of December 22
Illegal armed groups 12 times used heavy weapons to attack Ukrainian positions.
This was reported today, December 22, by Spokesman for the Presidential Administration on ATO, Colonel Olexandr Motuzyanyk at a briefing.
According to him, two military clashes were recorded on the frontline. One of them took place in Schastia village (Lugansk direction). Militants retreated after 20 minute firefight.
Situation aggravates near Horlivka. In Zaitseve militants used 82-mm and 120-mm mortars and tank.
Novhorodske was 3 times shelled with mortars and anti-aircraft installations ZU-23-2.
Shellings in Pisky village (situated near the Donetsk airport) continued throughout the day.
Frequency of attacks in Mariupol direction increased, too. Four-hour shelling with 82-mm mortars was carried out in Marinka.
Two mortar attacks were recorded in Starohnativka, and a series of grenade attacks – in Shyrokyne.
As previously reported, the use of prohibited weapons was recorded by the Intelligence.
